Creative Trade:Laura Kay from Diarysketches

A while ago I came across a sweet blog called http://diarysketches.blogspot.com. Laura, the lady behind it, has a really cute illustration style and a sweet expression. We agreed on doing a "blog-trade", where we both worked to illustrate the quote:

Hi I 'm Laura, the artist and blogger behind http://diarysketches.blogspot.com/ . Most of my childhood was spent in my room surrounded by paints, cut up papers and all sorts of materials. Although I'm older now and a bit more mature, my burning love for art has never dwindled. I am currently amidst my degree for desktop and web publishing, however I'm on break this semester doing what I really love- illustrating a children's book (or two). Thanks Maria for the great idea of having a blog trade with me on the quote "not all those who wander are lost". Wandering is fun, that's how I came across so many wonderful art blogs including www.eiforandring.com ! Good luck in all that you do!

My second post for Monday Artday  , Given word: Melancholia.

I`m not scared of the darkness I am able to create. The subject spoke to me. The image of something physical like black bile, being the cause of sadness, melancholy, depression inspired me. You can say it felt familiar.
And one shall not refuse lady inspiration when she decides to come by.

Well, the other day I made a tutorial on how to make those paper-snowflakes from pre-school. Me and my brother had much fun looking at the patterns as they appeared on the paper. He commented on one : "it looks like a mad bull!"
And from that little outburst an idea grew in me. And the result?
A tiny little monster-factory. It reminds me of the days of design lectures in High School. A challenge to make something different within the same shapes repeatedly. I had fun.
